Manheim Township High School will be a state-of-the-art high school facility when construction is completed in 2008. This project consists of a partially existing building renovation and new additions for a total building area of 432,000 square feet.

Consolidated Engineers provided the design for the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems for the project. One of the unique design features includes an advanced passive low energy HVAC system utilizing the building structural mass core for thermal storage.

High performance, low energy mechanical/electrical systems design made possible through integration with building architecture and function. The HVAC system utilizes a displacement ventilation system capable of discharge temperature reset to augment and, when required, supplement the building concrete slabs which are used as radiant cooling/heating surfaces in a low energy, passive, high performance system. Daylight harvesting and associated artificial lighting control, ultra-efficient equipment motors and lighting, and a geothermal based HVAC system all combine to achieve a very low energy and water consuming facility.
