fail-safe operation of the IMAX movie projection room,
24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Unique lighting

The
Whitaker Center
is a unique,
state-of-the-art facility housing a performing arts theater, a 3-D IMAX
movie theater, and a science museum under one roof.

Consolidated
Engineers designed the HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical
systems for the project. There were several unique factors to deal with
during the engineering phase of this building. The performing arts
theater and IMAX movie theater both required stringent low noise levels
which impacted the mechanical and electrical design throughout the
building. The IMAX movie projection room required continuous fail-safe
operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If the primary power source
fails, the system automatically changes over to emergency power. If the
HVAC system fails, the system automatically switches to back-up HVAC
equipment. |

The unique and
modern design of the building required complimentary lighting.
Specialty lighting was used in the performing arts theater and hall. |
