The Alvernia University Community Building is located on Alvernia University’s campus located in Reading , PA.  The building is approximately 18,400 sf and consists of fitness rooms, community living spaces, dance studio and offices.  The building is conveniently located between Founders Village Dorms and the campus PE building.

The housing units are heated and cooled using high efficient rooftop (VAV) Variable Air Volume units.  There is high efficient gas condensing boilers, which provide heat to the VAV boxes plus miscellaneous heat (radiation, cabinet heaters, unit heaters, etc.).  The building has two level wall-to-wall glass front which was challenging from an HVAC perspective.  The HVAC system controls are all integrated with the campus energy management system.

The plumbing system consists of all low flow fixtures and a central high efficient and instantaneous gas-fired water heater.  The building is fully sprinklered.

The electrical system consists of energy efficient lighting with a lighting control system for common areas and exterior lighting, hard wired data outlets and full building emergency power back-up.
